Forms and Essence of Atheism in the Thought of Bernhard Welte

Abstract

The article analyzes the forms and essence of atheism based on the thought of Bernhard Welte. The analysis seeks, first, to elucidate, from the notions of "will to power" and "unworldliness", the conditions of possibility of negative, critical and positive atheism, and from those of impotence and unworldliness, that of the sufferer. It then determines each form of atheism as a peculiar correlation between a mode of giving oneself God as absence in the order of the entity and a mode of intending that absence and interpreting it. Finally, it establishes both the legitimacy, intensity and depth as well as the limits and epistemological status of each form of atheism.

    Ángel Enrique Garrido Maturano estudio de filosofía en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) y en la Universität Freiburg i.Br. Doctorado en 1996 por la UBA. Tesis: “Fundamentos, determinación y testimonio de la relación ética en el pensamiento de E. Levinas.” Desde 1998 Miembro del Centro de Estudios Filosóficos de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias de Buenos Aires; desde 2000 miembro del comité de doctorado de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste. Ex becario Servicio de Intercambio Académico Alemán (DAAD) y de la Fundación Alexander von Humboldt. Investigador Principal del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET) con lugar de trabajo en el Instituto de Investigaciones Geohistóricas de Resistencia. Más de 140 publicaciones entre libros, capítulos de libro y revistas científicas de 16 países. Miembro del comité científico de la Bernhard Welte Gesellschaft, de la Franz Rosenzweig Gesellschaft y de distintas revistas especializadas.
